Since leaving the United States Attorney’s Office, Mr. Thvedt has represented individuals and companies investigated for, or charged with, securities fraud, bank fraud, real estate fraud, money laundering, criminal business practices including theft of trade secrets, and narcotics offenses. Mr. Thvedt has also conducted internal corporate investigations concerning suspected bank fraud, bankruptcy fraud, and embezzlement. Mr. Thvedt has appeared before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals more than a dozen times, and has obtained favorable results in nearly every instance.
Mr. Ritt has represented defendants in alleged criminal activities ranging from money laundering and bribery in federal court to capital murder in state court matters.
Mr. Ritt and other firm attorneys, actively represent indigent clients convicted of capital crimes in habeas corpus proceedings to prevent execution. The firm successfully obtained a unanimous decision from the California Supreme Court overturning the death penalty of our client. As a result of the firm’s experience and success in representing death row inmates in habeas proceedings, RTTH attorneys have been invited to speak at many seminars on criminal defense and habeas issues.
